Xero Practice Manager Connection

ATOmate connects to your Xero Practice Manager via Xero’s API (Application Programming Interface) to populate the client list in ATOmate. However this API does not currently provide a complete set of client data. In order to retrieve a full set of client data, it is required to set up two reports in Xero.

The image below shows how ATOmate needs to retrieve client information from both the API and the two Xero reports. Report 1 exports client data including Tax File Numbers and Report 2 includes Tax Return Estimates and Tax Year information for the client.

Connect ATOmate to Xero Practice Manager

Go to ATOmate Dashboard, select Practice Settings > Xero Practice Manager.

Click the Connect to XPM button.

Sign in with your Xero credentials when requested.

Click Allow access to authorise ATOmate to connect to your Xero.

Setup Permissions in Xero Practice Manager

These settings often can only be set by the Xero Administrator for your practice.

Open Xero Practice Manager.

Go to Business and Settings.

Select Staff. Choose the staff member that should have this permission, we recommend this to be the ATOmate Super User.

Click on Permissions > Practice Administration > Connect Third Party Add Ons and click Save.

Complete the XPM connection configuration steps as per this guide: Xero Practice Manager Connection Configuration.

If the user who authorises connection within XPM is removed, connection with ATOmate will be lost and the above steps will need to be repeated.
